Our Hosts and Guides
The Team
We have arguably some of the top guides in East Africa. Varying in origin from Kenya to South Africa, all our guides are Africa born and bred. They all have many years of experience in diving, teaching, and in the areas we operate in.
Our amazing dive guide team is comprised of;
Eric Allard
Eric is the company owner and Managing Director. He was born in Kenya in 1967 and grew up along the Kenyan coast. He started diving in 1981 and at the tender age of 16 was running his first dive centre. Over the years, Eric continued to dive and progressed to dive master.
He later moved away from diving to pursue his true passion, free diving. In 1990 he moved to Tanzania after completing his university degree in the United States. In 2010 he started a new venture in water sports and has been running a diving operation since then.
Eric took advantage of his 22 years in Tanzania to explore under water along most of the country’s coastline. Since 2010 Eric has also explored the northern Mozambican coastline. Eric has been based in Zanzibar since 2013, and during the same year opened up the company’s dive base in Mozambique.
Eric is extremely passionate about the sea and is the driving force behind company operations. He is a very competent diver and guide. Eric is of French and Italian origin and speaks four languages.
Rodriguez Temoteo
Rodriguez is a new addition to the team. Coming highly recommended from his previous place of work, he joined us in the second half of 2014.
He is born in Inhambane, Mozambique, and grew up close to the sea. He was a fisherman for many years and became a diver in 2007. His diving progressed under PADI and became a dive instructor in 2010. He is now a Padi MSDT and has more than 7 Specialities including, Nitrox Instructor, Care for Children W/AED Instructor, Peak Performance Buoyancy Instructor, Deep Diver Sp Instructor, and is a Scuba Pro Equipment Service Technician.
Rodriguez is based at our dive centre on Vamizi Island and is totally in his element when in the water. He speaks three languages and is phenomenally patient, making him an ideal instructor and guide. Rodriguez is one of our trip team leaders for trips in Mozambique.
Barret Harvey
Barret is from Durban, on the east coast of South Africa. He too grew up on the coast and has been working in and around the sea for many years. He is a passionate free diver and scuba diver. He is a renowned photographer and videographer and is responsible for just about all of the best underwater videos you will see on this site.
Barret started diving in 1991 at the tender age of 16, and became an instructor in 1999. He is currently a PADI Open Water Instructor and Underwater Videography Speciality Instructor.
He has traveled the world as a cameraman and dive instructor and taught scuba diving in places such as Zanzibar, South Africa, and several Caribbean countries. Over the past 4 years, Barret has been working with us as a photographer/videograper and guide on a seasonal basis. He is therefore very experienced leading live aboard expeditions both in Tanzania and northern Mozambique. Hurrently divides his time between Zanzibar and South Africa.
One of Barret’s best attributes is his wit; he has that uncanny ability to be very funny and witty while remaining professional and paying attention details andeveryone’s needs. He is a great asset to our team and likely to be the one leading a live aboard scuba diving expedition in both Tanzania and Mozambique.
Herbert Tsofwa
Herbert was also born in Kenya, and like the rest of our amazing team, he grew up along the coast and close to the water. He started diving in 2002 and became a PADI Dive Master in 2005. He then moved up to Assistant Instructor and became a PADI Open Water Instructor in 2006. Later the same year he became an EFR Instructor
Since then, Herbert has completed many specialities and is currently an Instructor for 9 specialities, including Wreck Instructor, Digital Underwater Photography Instructor, Deep Diving Instructor, Care for Children w/AED Instructor, and Shark Awareness Instructor. Herbert has worked many years with Buccaneer Diving, one of the most renowned Scuba Diving operators in Kenya, where he gained most of his teaching experience.
He has been with us since 2010 and over the past year and a half has been based at our scuba dive base on Vamizi Island. Herbert is most likely the most experienced instructor/guide we have, and his vast experience in teaching young people makes him an extremely patient and thorough instructor and guide. He leads live aboard dive trips in both Tanzania and Mozambique.
